What Jesus Claimed

Many people recognize that Jesus was a great and moral teacher. But Jesus claimed to be more than just a man.

Jesus claimed to be God

John 10:30
"I and the Father are one."

Jesus claimed to be the Son of God

Matthew 11:27
"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

John 14:6
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me."

John 17:5
"And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."

John 10:28-30
"I give [my followers] eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one."

Jesus claimed to be the Messiah (Christ)

Mark 14:61-62
"Again the high priest asked him, 'Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?' 'I am,' said Jesus. 'And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.'"

Luke 23:1-3
"So Pilate asked Jesus, 'Are you the king of the Jews?' 'Yes, it is as you say,' Jesus replied."

Jesus claimed to be able to give eternal life

John 6:40
"For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

John 6:47
"I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life."

John 11:25
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die...'"
